Jill has been enamored with travel for decades. She recalls wanting to work at an airport back when she was little, just to feel that anticipation going on a trip every day! Jill was lucky to have started traveling at a very young age, mostly to compete at various synchronized swimming competitions. She is a 1996 Olympic Gold Medalist, 8-time World Champion and an International Swimming Hall of Fame Inductee in the sport.
In her professional life, Jill is a sustainability advisor and consultant, public speaker, graduate school instructor (University of Nevada, Reno), and author (Sustainability and Sport, 2011, one of the first books in the sustainability and sport field). She is the founder and CEO of Bristlecone Strategies, a sustainability consulting company. Her specialty is the intersection of sustainability and sports.
Jill was the Head of Sustainability for the America’s Cup Event Authority for the 34th America’s Cup in San Francisco, where she was responsible for successfully developing and implementing the 34th America’s Cup Sustainability Plan and Program, achieving Zero Waste and Carbon Neutral event activities. She lived in London for several years while leading the London 2012 work program of the sustainability charity Bioregional. She served as a Co-opted Expert to the Commission for a Sustainable London 2012 – a first of its kind body that independently assured the sustainability of the London 2012 Games.
